Res Releases Black Girls Rock

17 Jul

One of the albums I listen to most frequently, nobody has heard of. And I cannot understand why. How I Do, released in 2001 by artist Res and produced by Santogold before her own fame with the self-titled album in 2009, is terrific. Think neo-soul, like Baduism [Erykah Badu] meets Testimony I [India Arie] meets Santogold [Santogold].

Res’ second album, Black Girls Rock, was just released summer 2010. Download it for free on her website. The two songs below are tracks I’ve been painting to from her new album. Enjoy.
