My entire life

I am searching for a place to call home

and what I have found

is the sense that I have been there before

and blindly I march forward

captive on the wheel of time

captivated by the changing reflections

following the direction of my pointed intuition.

I would die for a place to call home.

The type of stability

that I will only

find when I die.

I keep looking towards other people and place

and things to satisfy the balance and justify stability

but I am alone enough for myself

and balance belong to me alone

but I keep looking none the less.

Alone in the cold windy night.

I can love myself and that will shine,

but to sit in the heat

and find comfort in the warm glow, the home.

Mom says she caught the cancer early enough that radiation therapy will stop it from spreading.

My dad says my mom’s optimistic attitude that she will beat it is the one he is adopting to support her.

What is real. What is optimism. what is the prognosis? am i spending my last thanksgiving with my mom today?

Bon Iver – Skinny Love (Das Kapital Rerub)

The fact that a producer can dabble with stems of a song and layer it with basslines and electronic melodies to create a new experience that sets it apart from the original track is quite exhilarating. Having said that, not all songs should be remixed. There are songs whose melodies are so profound to its musical core, and the emotional core of the listener seeking comfort in them, that changing the original formula by the slightest usually results in utter shit. Knowing this, producer Das Kepital has impressed us with the way he subtly rerub’ed one of our favorite songs from 2008.

To celebrate thanksgiving, here at The Music Ninja we want to thank you so much for your daily support and while we can’t invite you’all for an actual dinner, we have a warm and delight rerub of Bon Iver‘s most recognizable tune ‘Skinny Love’ for you to feast on.

Sentiments from the Fishbowl

Otherwise known as recent pondering:

The etymology of the word recursive is an inherent contradiction to itself. Verbs are action oriented. Action is the propelling movement from the present moment to the present movements to come: a forward sweep. How can the verb to run (forward) cooperate with its modifier (back)?

recursively |rəˈkərs1vli| |riˈkərs1vli| adverb

  • ORIGIN late 18th cent. (in the general sense): from late Latin recurs- ‘returned’ (from the verb recurrere ‘run back’ ) + -ive . Specific uses have arisen in the 20th cent.

diphthong |ˈdifˌθä ng; ˈdip-; -ˌθô ng | noun

  • a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins as one vowel and moves toward another (as in coin, loud, and side). Often contrasted with monophthong , triphthong .
  • ORIGIN late Middle English : from French diphtongue, via late Latin from Greek diphthongos, from di- ‘twice’ + phthongos ‘voice, sound.’\

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave

A glimmer of the sort of stuff that mental masturbation is made of. Full podcast streaming and available for download below: Philosophy Bites presents Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.

It seems as though plato thought change was a sign of illusion. its as if the real world existed behind the change, the illusion of puppets, and was timeless: an immutable form of the real thing.

Respect, Finding Out What it Means to Me [Twilight Free Write]

What is respect on a chemical level?

Why do cultures appropriate this idea and base the norms and balance by its way?
Nature. Respect is the nature of communication, an expressed form of transformation and transmutation.
Energy cannot be created. Energy cannot be destroyed. Reciprocity. The ultimate law of nature.
It’s elastic. And it moves in tambour, twisting inward and stretching harmoniously like a yawn two ways outwards.
A breath. Life–mine, yours and Life eternal–is the measure of a moment, a breath: reciprocity.

The Short and Long of Preoccupations [Free Write]

16 Nov

Today, how many tenses took my presence from the present and flick it it forward, backward, and below where I am to where I’ve been and where I will go. The only thing I am sure of is I will go. Time flows and I am on its conveyer belt for the rise, at least in this life time.

Have you ever noticed that the words “short” and “long” can refer to both the 1st and the 4th dimension? The latitudinal yawn of the infinite, vanishing horizon; the dual elastic stretching of the arms of time; life is short, but the days can feel so long.

I have to leave. I have nowhere to go.

My grandma’s cancer came back. Surgury soon.

My mothers cancer came back. Surgury soon.

There is literally no place and no resource to house and support me at home.

Maybe–saturday, I’ll know prognosis and plan.

I want to tell him I love him but I’m afraid he doesn’t want to hear it.

I need someone to hold me.

I am trying to keep myself together but the fabric of my life is fringed at the ends and I am so tired of repair. I want a chance to be alive. I can’t take it anymore. The stress eats me. I eat the stress. I don’t eat the stress. I can’t control anything. I want to beheld. Why is everyone dying. Everyone I love dies.

What Did I learn at Home/School Today?

14 Nov

A few definitions, some new ideas and angles to reshape my perspective on old idea, that’s part of what I learned at school today.

Definitions and New Words:

ob·fus·cate [ob-fuh-skeyt, ob-fuhs-keyt]

verb (used with object), -cat·ed, -cat·ing.

1. to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy.
2. to make obscure or unclear: to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information.
3. to darken.
–verb (used with object), -mized, -miz·ing.

to make more active, productive, or the like; energize: an attempt to dynamize the local economy.

pol·y·se·my [pol-ee-see-mee, puh-lis-uh-mee]

diversity of meanings.
From Preface to the First Edition of Games For Actors and Non-Actors by Boal, founder of the Theatre of the Oppressed.
“Theatre can also be the repetitive acts of our everyday lives. We perform the play of breakfast, the scene of going to work, the act of working, the epilogue of supper, the epic of Sunday lunch with the family, etc– like actors in a long run of a successful show, we repeat the same lines to the same partners, executing the same movement, at the same times, thousands of times over. Life can become a series of mechanisations, as rigid and as lifeless and the movements of a machine. This type of theatre, encrusted in our lives, we may designate ‘profane ritual(s).’

Phrases like ‘over-dramatizing’, ‘making a scene’, ‘playing it up’, are used to describe situations where people are manipulating or exaggerating or distorting the truth. In this context, theatre and lies are synonymous.

But in its most essential sense, theatre is the capacity possessed by human being-and not by animals- to observe themselves in action. Humans are capable of seeing themselves in the act of seeing, of thinking their emotions, of being moved by their thoughts. They can see themselves here and imagine themselves there; they can see themselves today and imagine themselves tomorrow….
